International Students

The Bryn Mawr School welcomes students from around the world, and provides a nurturing environment that inspires a love of learning while fostering respect in all relationships.  Our mission focuses on several goals. We encourage our students to assume responsibility; to be invested in the process of learning; to take risks and solve problems; to become confident, independent learners; and to be contributing members of their communities.  Our small class size and dedicated faculty are essential to our program in which students are challenged and supported, both in the classroom and beyond.

In our admission process we are very interested in learning from both the student and her parents (or family representative) the applicant's personal characteristics, academic ability, English fluency, and her readiness to be a full participant in a school community where the arts, athletics, and community service are integral parts of the program.

To apply to Bryn Mawr, please complete the online application and the accompanying forms from the "Forms" section on the right side of this page.

Application Checklist

The application checklist is as follows:

  • Application fee of $125 USD
  • Completed application
    1. Student Biographical Information
    2. Student Essay/Questionnaire
    3. Student Supplementary Form
    4. Parent Statement (optional)
  • School Transcripts OR Report Cards for current and previous two years
  • Admission Testing (ISEE, SSAT, or SAT) and TOEFL results
  • Common Referral Forms from both the math teacher and English teacher, OR a letter of recommendation from the school principal. A math recommendation should include a brief outline of topics covered this year. The English recommendation should include a synopsis of the novels read in class and the student’s ability to write a sustained essay on a work of literature, due to the fact that Bryn Mawr English classes are focused on reading literature and writing analytically, not grammar.
  • Skype Interview or Campus Visit

The application, fee, and all of the supporting documents should be submitted as soon as possible. A Skype Interview will be scheduled after receipt of all materials. If the student is accepted, her family will be sent a contract to sign and return with the designated deposit. When the contract and deposit are returned to the School, the student will be officially enrolled, and the I-20 form will be issued from Sevis.

We are eager to learn more about the student, her family, and their ambitions for an American education. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
